Hilo is the largest town on Hawaii Island and the center of the east side. People from Puna, Keaau, Pepeekeo, and Honokaa come here for services, and more of them are finding local businesses by searching on their phones first. Many East Hawaii businesses still rely on word of mouth and a Facebook page. RankFlow Systems helps them build a real online presence that brings in calls. We work remotely from Spokane.
What makes East Hawaii search different
Heavy rainfall, humidity, volcanic conditions, and a long list of catchment water systems create steady demand for roofing, mold remediation, water systems, and home repair. Customers want businesses that understand island conditions. Competition online is light. A business with a complete Google profile, current photos, and recent reviews can often take over its category faster than on Oahu.
A closer look at the Hilo market
Hilo's economy centers on government, the University of Hawaii at Hilo, healthcare, agriculture, and astronomy work tied to Maunakea. Housing is more affordable than on the Kona side, and Puna has seen steady growth as people buy land and build. Many properties are rural, off grid, or on catchment, which means specialized trades are in demand and customers search for them by very specific terms. Pages that match those searches win easily.
Who we work with
Hilo clients include roofers, builders, catchment and water system installers, solar companies, pest and mold remediation services, and auto repair shops, plus medical, dental, and legal offices serving East Hawaii. Most have strong local reputations but little online presence.
How we would grow your Hilo business
- Build the basics. A real website and a complete Google profile, which puts you ahead of most local competitors.
- Target specific searches. Pages for catchment systems, off grid solar, mold, and other island specific services.
- Reach Puna. Area pages for Puna communities where growth is steady and competition is thin.
